Montenegrin publishing company Rabbit Records, in cooperation with Made in New York Competition and Festival INC from New York is organizing a first in a row Made in New York Jazz Festival, Montenegro 2016.
Festival will be held on 3rd of June at the amphitheatre at the entrance to St. Stefan peninsula, and on 5th of June in the atrium of "The Capital Plaza" in Podgorica, both starting at 9 pm.
During two days of the festival some of the biggest names of the world jazz scene will perform: Randy Brecker - trumpet, Yaacov Mayman - tenor saxophone, Essiet Okon Essiet - double bass, Edsel Gomez - piano, solo vocalists: George Johnson Junior and Anita Vitale, also, Leonid Vintskevich - piano and Nick Vintskevich - soprano/alto saxophone, as well as Bobby Sanabria - drums and percussions.
On the scene, as guests, local musicians will join them: Vladimir Maras - piano, Milorad Sule Jovovic - guitar and Micko Wes Perunicic - guitar, as well as famous jazz performers from the region: Ljubisa Paunic - saxophone/flute, Vladimir Krnetic - trumpet/flugelhorn, Ivan Aleksijevic – piano (Big band RTS) and many others.
On Sunday the fifth of June in Hard Rock Cafe a "Jazz Session with Jazz Masters" will be organized, for students of music schools, Academy of Music in Cetinje and other guests interested in this field, where the participants will give short lectures and answer the audience questions. It is particularly important that students of jazz department in music high school "Vasa Pavic" whose professor is Sule Jovovic, will open the concert in Podgorica with one composition.
Only a couple of weeks after the festival in New York's Tribeca Performing Arts center, most important names of American jazz music are coming to Montenegro! The audience will have a chance to enjoy the repertoire made of jazz standards, as well as in ususal instrumental and vocal improvisations.
Strategic partner in next three years is "The Capital Plaza".Sponsors of the festival are Ministry of culture of Montenegro, National tourist organization, Hipotekarna bank, Telenor, US embassy in Montenegro, the capital city of Podgorica and the company "Adriatic properties”. Friends of the festival are Yamaha/Eurounit, Montenegro Airlines, hotel Ziya, Hard Rock Cafe and Ethno Jazz Club "Sejdefa". Official vehicle of the festival is Renault.
